Jigarthanda is a movie directed by Karthick subburaj, director of Pizza, Starring Bobby Simha, Siddarth, Lakshmi Menon, Karunakaran, and Vijay Sethupathi doing a guest role. Jigarthanda is a musical gangster movie about a madurai don, Assault Sethu.
Karthick (Siddarth) is a young director who wants to direct a gangster movie based on the local don. So he selects a gangster Assault Sethu (Bobby Simha) and follows him secretly to study their life and make a real gangster movie. Karthick selects three of Sethu's accomplices, and also Lakshmi Menon, Sethu's Relative girl and tries to get details about sethu. But unfortunately he gets caught. And what happens next is totally unexpected. Sethu on other side is a very cruel cold blooded gangster who kills a reporter for writing a cover story on his life. But he accepts karthick as he too wants his life to be shot as a movie like Thalapathy.
Karthick joins Sethu's gang, everything works fine, Karthick completes his script. When he is about to leave Lakshmi menon traps him by suggesting sethu to act in the film as hero. She does this to take revenge on Karthick as he uses her to get close to Sethu. With no other options left Karthick decides to take movie with sethu as hero. And he completes his movie. Movie Scenes and Audience response for the movie is a big twist which shows the brilliance of Karthick (Director Karthick too).
Director Karthick used the movie well to ask a chance from Rajini. Used his thalaivar sentiment in a few scenes. In a scene siddarth says enaku thalaivara vachu padam eduka aasai dan ana avaru othukanume, Thalivara? avaru veetu theru pakkam kooda poga mudiadhu. Dont worry karthick you may get a chance if you keep on directing good movies like this one.
Bobby simha is a great talent he carries the whole movie as a single person. He is a great plus for Jigarthanda. His acting skills are too good. Siddarth has done a normal role. Vijay sethupathi has done a dual role in the movie, that too in a guest role. Karunakaran has also done justice to his role. Lakshmi menon looks homely, a girl next door. Ambika has done the role of Lakshmi's mother.

The movies starts as a very fast paced action gangster movie, shifts to comedy, becomes sentimental and ends as a perfect entertainer. A Must Watch-Atleast for Bobby.. He ruled the entire movie. Assaulta!
