Surya acted as a cop in kakka kakka and singam 1&2. All three movies were massive hits and earned surya a good name. This has caused a respect for police roles in surya's mind. So as gautham menon narrated the story of duruva natchatiram,which is again a cop tale, surya readily accepted. But later surya asked gautham to wait a little bit.
At this time Lingusamy's Story inspired surya and its again a Cop story. So surya didnt wait for gautham and he nodded for this movie. But in this story he is not a full time cop. In first half surya is a doctor and seeing the social status of our country he is motivated to prepare for IPS and he becomes a cop in the second half.
Samantha is pairing up with surya for the first time in this movie. And another bollywood heroine will also be roped in for this movie.
